Before Your Rental

What driver’s licence do I need to rent a camper in Iceland?

To rent a camper or motorhome with RC Iceland, you need a valid driver’s licence held for at least one year. Licences from the EU, UK, USA, Canada, and most international countries are accepted if printed in Latin characters. If not, please bring an International Driving Permit. The minimum age is 20 for campers and 25 for motorhomes.

What is included in the rental price?

Our rental rates include unlimited mileage, CDW insurance, basic equipment (bedding, kitchenware, gas bottle), and 24/7 roadside assistance. Optional extras like Wi-Fi, camping tables, GPS, child seats, and insurance upgrades can be added during booking.

Do I need to book in advance?

We strongly recommend booking early, especially for the summer months (June–August), as availability becomes limited. Booking in advance also ensures the best price and the widest selection of camper types.

What insurance options are available?

Every rental includes standard Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). You can upgrade to Silver, Gold, or Platinum coverage for reduced liability and broader protection against gravel, sand, and wind damage. Driving off-road or across rivers is never covered by insurance in Iceland.

Can I pick up or return my camper at different locations?

RVIceland has one office located near Keflavik International Airport. We offer a free shuttle service between our office and the airport.

Can I drive everywhere in Iceland, including F-roads and the Highlands?

Only 4x4 campers are allowed on F-roads (mountain roads). 2WD campers must stay on paved and gravel roads. Off-road driving is strictly prohibited and will void all insurance coverage.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can modify or cancel your booking up to a certain period before pick-up (usually 30 days) with a partial or full refund. Cancellations made closer to the rental date may incur a fee. Please review our full terms before booking.
